The Slaytons!

I've had the photo for this post up for an entire day without any words because honestly... I don't know what to write. I could go on for days with stories about my friendship with Shannon and all of the crazy, silly, sad, amazing and terrible times we've had but I don't think any words could really sum up what we have been through during our time as friends. It's hard for me to even think about what these last few years would have been like without her but I do know one thing- they would have been LAME! For those of you who don't know Shannon- she has been fighting infertility for years and after countless miscarriages, a failed adoption and an ectopic pregnancy that left Shannon with only one fallopian tube, she and Tim decided to give it one last try and do IVF. Guess what? It WORKED!!! It really worked!! Needless to say, we have spent the last 6 months squealing, happy crying, hanging out in baby sections all over town and repeating "I can't believe it's really happening". It has been incredible! When Shannon asked me to come over and take some maternity pics at her house (she's on bed rest) I was soooo excited!! It was such an easy shoot- I basically just hung out with her and Tim, practiced "eating for two" with Shannon and pulled out the camera when something fun happened. We did go out in the backyard for a few shots but for the most part we just hung out. Anywhoo, I wish I could really express what Shannon's friendship means to me but it's hard to write about things that are so wonderful. Too good for words... that's all I can say.

Congratulations to Shannon and Tim on their pregnancy and the upcoming birth of Kalea Grace Slayton. I cannot wait to love on that little baby and tell her all of the things her mom and dad went through to get her. It's been a long journey but one that I am so honored to be a part of.

Shannon has kept a blog throughout her journey with infertility and if you're interested you can find it here.
