Cataloochee Ranch

I found out last week that one of Matthew's clients, Cataloochee Ranch, is bringing him back to shoot their ski season for upcoming ads. Cataloochee is not only one of our favorite places to work but also one of our favorite places to vacation so it's always exciting to hear that they are bringing us back. Usually when I assist Matthew (or any photographer) I make sure to be available at all times but that's not always the case at Cataloochee. I do the usual pillow fluffing and cord hiding, gear carrying and second shooting but there is always a point in the trip where I am told, "go do your thing". It's the phrase that every assistant dies for. "Me? Leave you and go shoot for myself? Whooo hooo!" Cataloochee is the place where my southern series really started to take shape and it is the perfect place for me to work on my personal photography. I'm lucky to assist someone that understands that and gives me creative freedom.
I'm so excited to take the 4x5 to the mountains and really see what I can do with it and I will, of course, have the medium formats with me in hopes of continuing on with my favorite series so far. I leave this Wednesday and come back Saturday. I can't wait!

Want to see some of the Cataloochee images? You can find their website here and be sure and check out how nice the pillows look. Thats my job!
